Privacy Policy — OBD2 Bridge Pro
Last updated: 20 July 2026
This policy covers the Android application OBD2 Bridge Pro, published by Graham Crichton T/A Bümba Creative ("we", "us"). It explains what data the app handles and where that data goes.
The short version: the app does not collect, transmit, sell, or share your data. Everything it reads stays on your device unless you deliberately export it.
What the app does
The app connects to an ELM327-compatible Bluetooth OBD2 adapter plugged into your vehicle, reads vehicle data (such as speed, engine data, and fuel level), optionally reads your device's GPS location, and makes those values available to automation apps (such as MacroDroid and Tasker) running on the same device.
Data the app handles, and where it goes
Vehicle data. Values read from your vehicle over Bluetooth are processed in memory on your device, shown in the app, and broadcast to other apps on your device that you have configured to receive them. They are not sent to us or to any server.
Location data. If you enable the GPS feature, the app reads your device location to provide speed, bearing, altitude, and position variables. Location is processed on your device only. If you additionally enable road name lookup, the app passes coordinates to your device's built-in geocoding service (provided by your device platform, typically Google) to translate them into a road name, locality, and postcode. That request is handled by your device platform under its own privacy policy. We never receive your location.
Adapter details. The Bluetooth MAC address of your chosen adapter and your settings are stored on your device in the app's private storage.
Debug log. The app keeps a rolling diagnostic log (capped in size) on your device to help you troubleshoot. It may include vehicle values, GPS values, and road names. It is never transmitted automatically. If you choose Export, the log is passed to the Android share sheet and goes only where you send it.
Crash data. We use no third-party analytics or crash reporting SDKs. If the app crashes, Google Play may report aggregated crash statistics to us through Google Play's standard developer tools, under Google's own privacy policy. This does not include your vehicle or location data.
Data we collect
None. The app has no user accounts, no advertising, no analytics, no tracking identifiers, and makes no network connections to our servers. We have no servers.
Permissions the app requests, and why
- Bluetooth (connect): to communicate with your OBD2 adapter.
- Location (fine, while in use): required by Android for the optional GPS feature. Only requested if you enable GPS.
- Notifications: to show the persistent status notification required for reliable background operation.
- Run at startup: so the service can resume automatically after a reboot, if you enable that option.
- Ignore battery optimisations (optional): to prevent Android stopping the background service.
Data sharing with other apps
The app's purpose is to broadcast vehicle and GPS variables to automation apps on your device. Any app on your device that listens for these broadcasts can read them. You control which values are enabled. If this concerns you, disable the values you do not want broadcast.
Data retention and deletion
All data lives on your device. Uninstalling the app deletes its settings and log. You can clear the debug log at any time from within the app.
Children
The app is not directed at children and is intended for use by licensed drivers and vehicle owners.
Changes to this policy
If the policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a revised date. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
